Bonamiosis due to the intrahaemocytic protistan parasite Bonamia ostreae is a European endemic disease affecting the flat oyster Ostrea edulis. The parasite has been described in various ecosystems from estuaries to open sea, but no clear correlation has yet been demonstrated between disease development and environmental parameters. In this study, the effect of temperature and salinity on the survival of purified parasites maintained in vitro in seawater was investigated by flow cytometry. Etude de la viabilité du parasite Bonamia ostreae, agent de la bonamiose chez l'huître plate Ostrea edulis, en fonction des facteurs environnementaux (salinité, température, milieux) par cytométrie en flux ArchiMer

L'huître plate, Ostrea edulis, espèce indigène des côtes européennes est présente de la Norvège à la baie d'Agadir au Maroc ainsi que sur le pourtour méditerranéen et en Mer Noire. Actuellement, la production Française d'huître plate, qui a essentiellement lieu en Bretagne, est de 1 500 tonnes contre 120 000 tonnes pour l'huître creuse Crassostrea gigas. Les travaux développés s'inscrivent dans le cadre de l'étude de la survie du parasite Bonamia ostreae par cytométrie en flux. Des huîtres fortement infectées ont été utilisées pour les purifications de parasites.
